Go Forth Carolina! provides coaching and support to varsity students aged 12-18 yrs for the following speech events:

Platform 
 
 
Original Oratory:
An Original Oratory is a prepared speech written by the competitor on a topic of the competitor’s choice. The goal is to develop a winsome, polished speaker who can present an engaging, well organized speech. The purpose of this informative speech is to explain, describe, or expose the topic
 
Persuasive:
A Persuasive speech is a prepared speech written by the competitor which advocates a specific position or course of action. The goal is to develop a winsome, polish speaker who can state a clearly worded position supported by convincing arguments and well-researched support.
Limited Preparation
 
Impromptu:
Student is assigned a quotation and then has two minutes to prepare a five minute speech after which he/she then immediately presents with or without index cards.
Impromptu Apologetics:
In advance of the tournament, the student will be given general topics for study.  Students will study these subjects, identifying probable challenges and the best apologetic response. During tournament, a topic based upon the general area of study will be given. The student will have a four minute prep time during which he will prepare and then give a speech on the given topic.
Mars Hill Impromptu:
Student uses books, movies, and other genre to discuss the appeal and impact of the themes within the given topic, holding them up in light of Christian Truth found in the Bible.
Interpretive
Open Interpretation:
Student creates an original rendition from literature that may be a published, unpublished, or self-written work.  The presentation may range from dramatic to humorous genres, and it may include narrative storytelling, single voice monologues, or thematic compilations. 
Duo Interpretation:
Working together, two students choose a selection of published literature and creatively interpret the author's words for presentation from memorization within a given time limit.
